Dual SU Fuel Pump

Hey there,
I've got an early 100 and currently have twin (switchable)electric fuel pumps. One has failed and I've had no end of fuel pick-up problems. Apparently my tank has collected a bunch of crud and because of the baffles, I wasn't able to clean it. (Boiled it out and had it coated when I restored it 3 years ago.
So, long story short, I purchased and have installed an new aluminum tank (Jorge from San Diego...highly recommended), and am ready to rip out the two electronic pumps and replace with a double-pumper SU...electronic, not points.
Question: should I run both at the same time (SU's don't care about pressure), or should I wire them independent and switch off occasionally?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Jeff

Re: double ended SU fuel pump

Here is my thoughts jmepmm, $340.00 is just a bit much to spend for a fuel pump. But to each his own.---Keoke

Re: double ended SU fuel pump

Agree, Keoke, but am tired of the "roll-off" charges as my way home.
Don't mind investing now for less hassle later.
What do you think?

Re: double ended SU fuel pump

My thoughts again; put the car back to its "original form" with a single electronic SU pump and your problems will be solved. But to each his own---Keoke /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Re: double ended SU fuel pump

Well, I to am tired of the "roll-off charge for the ride home. Especially since my traveling buddy drives an MGB that looks like it ought to be parted-out!
I'm just looking for a reliable driver.
Opinions?

Re: double ended SU fuel pump

My 2 cents is that the original parts lasted 45 +/- years. Will you be around to change it out again? Not me.

Hello jmepmn, have to agree with Keoke, thats a lot of money for a fuel pump. I'm not so sure you will need that volume of fuel as the double pump delivers twice the volume. The electronic BJ8 type pump will be adequate and reliability should be no problem in the future. Regards, BUNDYRUM.

To answer your question - I would have two switches.

Had one of these once, never installed it, went and put a single electronic on and kept the original for show days

Yep zblu, cuz they such a PITA to install.---Keoke- /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
