i have a '66 sprite, with the Lockheed dual master cyl. i had the part relined to the original .750" bore, but of course, could never find the pistons to fit it.

i have contacted a machine shop about reproducing these, and am wondering how many additional pairs i might be able to sell. if you (or anyone you know) needs a pair, could you let me know? it's much cheaper to have them made by the hundred, and of course, prohibitively expensive (about $600/pair /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nonod.gif) to have only two made. i anticipate selling them for around $35 - $40 each ($70-$80 /pair) if there are enough people interested. if you need /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif some, or know anyone who does, could you let me know? my private email is craig_assc@hotmail.com thanks! paul

If you're not a stickler for originality, get a later pedal box with the separate master cylinders. The studs are arranged at a 45 degree angle, 2.25" center to center, one next to the other. Tilton racing master cylinders (single circuit) have the same bolt arrangement, but vertical instead of tilted. They also have the option of selectable bore size and remote mounted reservoirs. They are only single circuit, but have proven far more reliable than the standard items thus far. They will bolt right in with a 1.58" (round that to 1.5") spacer and a threaded end to attach to the original pedals and the threaded rod on the cylinder. Alternatively, the threaded rod can be cut 1.5" shorter to fit the application. I made a custom spacer that made the cylinder sit upright instead of at a 45 degree angle, but that wouldn't be necessary with two single circuit cylinders. Reference www.speedwellengineering.com for a sample of what I'm talking about. Their system is a very sharp modification of the later pedal box for a triple master cylinder assembly, and not too outrageously priced either. I only don't use it due to SCCA Autocross class rules, otherwise it's a very nice piece.

P.S., I don't know what these pistons look like, but $600 per pair seems outrageous. I can't imagine that they need to be CNC'd, and I'd figure conventional machine time at 8 hours per pair tops ($45*8 ... plus a few dollars materials). 8 Hours is a lot of time to make two (what I imagine) simple parts. If I had a lathe, I'd wager they could be turned out in 4 hours or less for the pair, equivalent to about $180 plus material.
