dual circuit braking system

brake light switch is on the five way junction block. probably see the adjustment knob.

no cigar, three way union juntion as well as the mg union all have bubble seats. i would have thought that the healey would have been inverted flare to match the front 5 way juntion block seat and male nuts. i will remove one of the lines to the rear juntion tomorrow t o see if it is an inverted flare.. the saga continues!

Another solution; you might consider contacting the guys at Classic Tube (should turn up in a search, they provide steel & stainless steel brake line kits for our cars) and ask them to make you a tube to length with the required fittings that match what you already have on the car.

If anyone is set up to do it, they certainly are! I have their 3000 MKI s/s kit on my (fr/disc brake) 100/6, and I've also installed a s/s kit on a BJ8. Their products and workmanship (correct fit and high quality fittings) is above reproach.

steve, i have purchased a proper union locally...but...it does not have a deep enough threaded area to properly engage the male end...the healey male end is not threaded all the way and there is probably almost 3/16 inch of inverted flare and the unthreaded portion of the nut. so i cant get enough thread engagement for my liking...i need an extra long female inverted flare union. and, i have not been able to locate one.

Have you tried getting new brake lines that will fit the union? I had to replace all my brake lines anyway, so I bought lines from a local auto supply store where I bought the union. They also fit the Healey fittings.

well i just went ahead and used a 3/16 compression nut union ro joint the two lines. seems to be okay. i have never used one of these...called a gator union...and sold in the brake parts section at the local auto supply store. any comments regarding the use of this type fitting??? thanks for all the suggestions and ideas.. cheers

Google doesn't show any 'gator union'. Do you have a picture? Don't think compression unions are allowed in brake circuits.

it is called a ...gator gripper....and, yes i am a bit concerned about the idea that if the compression ferrule slips on the line it would could be a major failure especially if one had a single circuit system. not quite as bad with a dual system. most likely will go back further back from the five way junction block, recut the line, and attempt to double flare under the car. most of the fittings have been in place so long...major problem with removing without destroying the line or the nuts.

steve, still have to join the lines and back to the same problem. i removed the line to the rear this afternoon and reflared to accomodate a reverse flared female union. i will have to remove the line from the master cylinder and relfare since i cut the end off for the gator gripper ferrule and union. i i get the flares nice and square i should have a more correct union for the rear brake lines. thank you for the link!!!
