What *is* it about these old LSR cars that's so appealing?

I couldn't tell you, but I love reading about them.

I've come rather late to this party, but I thought I'd say I too really like the old lakes racers, both tanks as well as modified coupes and roadsters. One of my favorite racing cars is the Pearson Brothers coupe.

Interesting side note-"Old Crow" is a brand new car, made from an original tank, as well as period mechanical parts. If I remember correctly, the faded blue color comes from the fact that it was an ex-Navy tank.

That sounds like such a neat place to visit, I almost think I'd rather go there than to Monterey, no really... It somehow sounds more authentic and real...

Reading that reminded me of the movie <span style="font-style: italic"><span style="font-weight: bold">The World's Fastest Indian</span></span>, of the enthusiasm of the grass roots and just how simple it really can be...
