What *is* it about these old LSR cars that's so appealing?

I couldn't tell you, but I love reading about them.

~HERE~ is a neat slide-story about guitarist Ry Codder and his experience with these wonderful vehicles.

And ~HERE~ is some neat info from the article.

You're right, those old cars are so COOL!!!!!
That is one of those places I would love to spend some time at.

Thanks for posting this.

By far one of the best used EVER of military surplus goodies. cool stuff.

I've come rather late to this party, but I thought I'd say I too really like the old lakes racers, both tanks as well as modified coupes and roadsters. One of my favorite racing cars is the Pearson Brothers coupe.

Interesting side note-"Old Crow" is a brand new car, made from an original tank, as well as period mechanical parts. If I remember correctly, the faded blue color comes from the fact that it was an ex-Navy tank.

Thanks for bumping this one William...

What a great article! And great photos too.

That sounds like such a neat place to visit, I almost think I'd rather go there than to Monterey, no really... It somehow sounds more authentic and real...

Reading that reminded me of the movie The World's Fastest Indian, of the enthusiasm of the grass roots and just how simple it really can be...
