Drums

Next time go with the Datsun wheel cylinders too, they just bolt(ed) right on. Only difference is the id of the cylinder.. You are going to the Datsun drums, go the cylinders also..... And they were cheaper than the Morgan cylinders.

do you know what the cyl, dimensions are for nissan/Datsun?I know stock TR is .070 which is fine with stock tire size but with the 205-70x15 I found them anemic so I went to .075 cyl which was used in 10" TR3 i believe and very late tr6. I found them to be better but could still use more,so went to the Morgan .875 cyl.As soon as weather warms up I'll try em out and see.
I also put on new shoes as I suspect the old ones could be of a hard compound.

Didn't really want to hear about the dust part Bill.May have to retrain better half as she likes to polish and dust etc. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I also painted the drums,I used a metallic silver caliper paint

Looks downright pretty.

bolted right on, same thread pitch.... course that was for my 74 6, if I remember right the cylinders I got were for a 510. I know I found the reference for them either on the old Buckeyes site or on the Monster List, but that was a while back.

So won't work for the early 6's.

rear wheel cyl. are all the same, tr3 thru 6 with slotted piston.

So the later 6's don't have metric in the back, just front calipers?

Right. There is an adapter piece (and bolts) for the front calipers, the rest of the brakes are not metric.

They do interchange, but there were at least 3 different sizes of rear wheel cylinder fitted, even after the Lockheed brakes and early Girling with the flat piston ends. The TR3A switched from .75 bore to .625, then back to .75 when the drums changed to 9". Then I believe they changed again to .70 during the TR4 run.

/bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/iagree.gif Randall and there's probably other Brit cars using same whl.cyl.Later Austin's i think used same set up
