Drums to Discs

I am sure many of you have done this so, how important is it that I change the master cylinder also when install the front disc brakes and calipers off a 66 to my 62/63 hybrid type Midget?

Thanks,

Jay

Everything I've heard says it's pretty important. I'm doing this switch on my Bugeye right now, and had the master cylinder rebored to the smaller 3/4" disc size.

Had this chap do mine, and it looks great. Can't say how well it works yet, but the work quality looks excellent.

So you've got the early Midget with the 948 motor and drum fronts?

Drew,

Yeah my Midget is a GAN 1 so a Mark 1 midget but it is titled as a 63 and does not have a 948 but a 1098 instead. I understood they got discs by then, 1963?, but when I saw it had drums it didn't stop (stop get it?) me from buying the car because I just wanted it. I love the lines and shaved look of the side curtain cars. Mine is Black and I kept imagining how sharp it is going to look with the red interior I ordered. It is getting lowered a smidge and I've got a set of Minataur wheels to put on her too.

Guess I'll get out my glowing CC and have the master done too, do I then have to change to a different rear wheel cylinder?

Jay

If you are doing this anyway, it is also worth considering switching to dual master cylinder (like the newer Midgets).

And I'd second the choice of the newer, rear wheel drum brake cylinders too.
