When I got my '77 MGB I started going to local cruise-ins that were more or less open to classic and antiques. I was (and still am) amazed at the number of people that were excited about the MGB. A little puny foreign four-banger that carries the word "cute" along with it among hundreds of amazingly built antique american street rods - but still gets a ton of action.

I did an event last year called Drivin' The Dixie. There were a LOT of really nice classic cars at the event and I was surprised how many people came to look at my Mini Wagon.... :smile:

I wish it were always that way...

There is a classic car cruise in a town near me next Friday that is always American iron... the organizers have invited the LBC car clubs to join for what they are calling 'British Invasion Night'...

Evidently several of the American Car clubs have decided to boycott the event in protest?!?! :rolleyes:

It's really strange, because the old Buick's, Ford's etc were as easy to work on as our babies. A little heavier parts maybe but they're more similar than the hot rodder's realize I think. Of course when we hit a corner at 70 the fun is in the handling, when they do it the fun is in just coming out of it.
But the point is correct that everybody who says they used to own one puts the lifespan of ownership in the months!!
The good thing is that when you have to jump start it you've got all these folks who "understand".
I love watching the rear view mirror at stop signs/lights and reading lips or seeing the knowing smiles, the real roi for sure.
