I was driving my A to church (no, really) this weekend and saw this beautiful 50s Plymouth woody coming toward me....suddenly a half dozen hands came out waving and holding thumbs up with those attached yelling 'great car'...

I thought his looked better than mine...

Then, at a stop sign, a fellow pulled up next to me and said ' great sled'

OMG I love these cars.....

Ron, it's good that you didn't hit the Plymouth woody wagon. Have you seen the prices on those things lately???

Had I any brains when I was a kid I would have bought any that I could find for a few hundred dollars each and retire now on the proceeds......

The one mentioned was absolutely perfect... Like I said.. looked much better than mine.. :smirk:
 
Gday Ron I drove our 66B to hardware store and a guy there said "nice car" and offered to swap his beatup 70's Escort he was driving for the B.It's not as nice a compliment as you got but I'll take it as one. Bob
 
I've driven the MGB to church a couple of times. Our organist said she had one when she was in college years ago. I always get nice compliments, headlight flashing, and waves when I'm out in the MGB; kids, teens, young and old adults, they all like it.
 
If we had had brains when we were younger - plastics, Yahoo, Kodak, McDonalds, Disney........and some guys named Jobs and Gates! :laugh:
 
You can hardly drive a T-car without getting stopped by someone who 'had one back in '55'.... My favorite is the 65 year old women who come over and with a 'sparkle in their eyes' say "....my boyfriend used to have one of those"...
 
One of my neighbors stopped the other day to inquire about my "cute little MGB" and jokingly said we should trade cars for a day sometime...I told him thanks but no thanks, I couldn't afford the gas for his. He laughed knowningly, as he pulled away in his showroom perfect AC Cobra! :wall:

The absolutely greatest compliment we got when driving our TD was one day when stopped at a signal and 3 or 3 teens were walking in the crosswalk in front of the car. As they passed by one of them turned around and said "awesome car" with a look of wonderment on his face.

Gordon - "You can hardly drive a T-car without getting stopped by someone who 'had one back in '55'...." From the number of times we have heard that, I have to figure that there somewhere around 55 million T series cars produced - or else all the people who owned them back in the 50s only kept them for a couple of months.

Yea, man...but I don't remember too many details...Ya know what I mean, man? LOL Actually, in the 70's, my buddy had a TD and it was amazing how many people had friends who had one back in the 50's. We came to the conclusion that TD owners had a heck of a lot of friends!
 
It's better to be in your car thinking about God than to be in church thinking about your car . We where tooling in our meyers manx around the stone mtn complex over by the covered bridge when we came across a bunch of disabled kids super cool . The best is when a kid spontaniously shouts Dune Buggy !! like a volcano .

The San Diego MG Club has been a participant in the Coronado Independence Day Parade since 1964...

This year we had 11 cars -- (they only allow us 10) -- two TDs, a Midget, a Magnette, six MGBs, and my A...

With 100,000 people on the parade route it was an overwhelming event with crowds applauding and shouting complements... Great event and a great time had by all....

As I said... we don't need to talk about $ ROI on these cars, just the smiles and memories that we bring to others is more than payment enough...
 
Well I have had a few different reactions.... This is my second MGB and after just a week of being the proud owner I have received 2 good ones and a bad. First the bad: Driving to the grocery store and a girl looks down from her big 4x4, (which I am also a fan of), and she just laughs at me... I felt a little insecure but convinced myself I had a great car. I had 4 college students point and stare saying, "wow, awesome, cool"...etc. but the best was a gorgeous young girl who's comment can't be beat... "Awww, how cute".... I tried to convince myself she was talking about me, but it just didn't work...

The girl in the 4X4 was laughing because she realized how much she put in her gas tank, how much you put in your gas tank and that YOU still had money left for beer!! :laugh:
