Gentlemen,
I had a few minutes to tear into the dizzy last night. I opted out of drilling the connector out for a few reasons
1 - I had very little time to get too far into it and
2 - the rivet is part of what appears to be an alignment fitting...
I ran a little solder on the connection, re-assembled, and re-installed. Started on the first pull. Adjusted the timing...
I must say that it has NEVER idled this smoothly.
I think that much of my efforts in trying to get this car to run reliably and smoothly -- rebuilding and re-rebuilding, adjusting and re-adjusting the SUs, replacing the points, condenser, and coil, replacing the rotor, cap, and wires, ad nauseam -- in retrospect, were probably unnecessary had I repaired this grounding strap early on...
I will make a more permanent repair this weekend.
Gentlemen, Thank you once again for your help....
And Doc, as far as the Lotus goes... I think I have too many projects as it is... but if I find one for a great price MAYBE...
