Oh no, he didn't have the most powerful lump in the bunch. Even the Caterham's 4-banger had more HP than he did. The real reason he turned back was that he wanted to go drive his truck.
I followed the Metropolitan up to that point, while playing broom wagon. It wasn't fast, especially because it's an automatic, but the guy kept it moving pretty darn good. Thought it might go up on two wheels a couple times!
Had some time to edit some more of it. Ignore the squealing brakes. I put did new calipers rotors and ebc redstuff pads the day before and had less than a mile on them before leaving for the run.
