Is there a clean/tidy and "period correct" method for wiring in driving lamps? I like the look and practicality of driving lamps and am thinking about getting the Cape brackets with towing hooks (and their rear bumper overriders), but don't want to do a hack install.

Whatever you do, it needs to be fused and use a relay. If you get a double switch as the dash parking light and head lamp (far right switch on a BJ8)and use it to replace the one that goes to the dash light (second form the right) then you will look correct. First switch stop is dash lights and second turns on the "flame throwers". Its really pretty simple. There are several sources of wiring diagrams. I am not at home where I can get my hands on them. As you are in Tracy, Dave at British Car Specialist in Stockton will have the switch and can help explain the wiring.
 
Thanks! Great suggestions. Switch on order. It would be cool if there were, or I could create, a wiring harness that looked like it were part of the car...
