Drives great and suddenly dies

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/iagree.gif Jeff pointed me in the same direction when my Midget had similar issues. He was right on the money, as is often the case with Bugeye58.
Easy to check and cheap to fix.
 
hopefully the advice of some of the other members has pointed you in the right direction.

I have not solved my issue as of yet, but I suppose that would require actually working on the car and not just drinking beer and looking at it all summer.
 
I had a friend that had a problem with a '71 and the tank was rusted and flakes of rust were getting into the carb bowls. But since you have filters on there, I bet you need to check them. I also agree to taking the one from the suction side. My '72 pump is between 1.5 lbs and 2 lbs pressure. His was rusting through the top and when he filled it up, he smelled gas real strong.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the input everyone. Bugeye, the lt leed and another wire needed changing too,Thanks for the info on that one!!!!! But i still had problems with it stalling after that, so i had the fuel pump changed too(which i should have done in the first place, but figured since it was only about 2 years old and it was clean and pumping it was fine) So far so good it ran fine the other night for about an hour straight, but yet it ran fine last time i had it fixed for 200 miles then acted up again, so i am keeping my fingers crossed for now.

Just a quick update- I finally got a chance to put my cleaned and coated tank back on my the b yesterday... the shop I took it to said that there was some "damage" and pin holes that they had to weld before coating it, but I should never have to remove the tank again unless in an accident.

Having said that, I also replaced the fuel pump, sending unit, and filters. At this time I have no fuel leaks, no air leaks, and she fired right up without stumbling or hesistation.

Good deal man, I think rusty tanks plague a lot of us. I've gone through too many fuel pumps to talk about. I'm just about ready to purchase a new tank from Victoria British as all attempts to remove the rust and seal the tank have failed so far...Congrats again,

could be an electrical problem at the fuel pump, but it sure sounds like fuel problem, not spark. i used to travel I-69, heard of a place called the "Back 40 Junction"?
