Driver's Door Won't Stay Open

In the 5 years I've owned my BJ7, the doors were always tight and would stay open. I don't know if it got lubed when I had the car serviced a few days ago but since then, the driver's door won't stay open and it's a PITA. I saw a post about this from 3 years ago about the earlier cars. Are the hinges and pressure plates the same? Is it just a matter of not lubing them? If so, what to do about hinges that were lubed?

Never mind: spoke with the shop and they did lube the hinges so I just used GooGone and removed as much as I could and it's already better.

Your mechanic may have not been familiar with the Healey Door Check and lubricated the disk that provided the resistance. Here is a link to the document posted by Moss (file:///C:/Users/carbo/3D%20Objects/Door%20Check%20Assembly.pdf) that will further explain. By dismantling the pressure disk mechanism and cleaning the disk, you should be able to regain proper close resistance. Keep in mind that this resistance.

Hope this helps,
