What rule is that? Well, it's the one-car-at-a-time rule. Thanks to a tip from our very own JP and some very able assistance from Dave (14dna) for an on-the-ground inspection, I just put a deposit down on a 1970 MGB.

And yes, it scratches my right hand drive itch nicely. The car is a UK spec car with overdrive, originally imported to Canada in the 1990s. Good solid driver, a few small things to clean up but not needing major work right now.

I'll be finalizing shipping/payment/insurance details on Tuesday, then it's time to play the waiting game as the car makes its way from Windsor to Midway. Got a good tip on a shipper from Steve_S, one that will also handle all the customs issues.

The Tunebug and the airhead will have some company. Just need to find some more covered parking somewhere.

WOOHOO!

Wow! Disposable income. I have heard about that. It's something people without children have, right?

Awesome find, Drew. Congratulations.

That very cute and pensive lady beside the car is my lovely bride Annie.
She was debating on telling how nice it is, or saying bad things, and buying it for our selves. Just Kidding.
Enjoy Drew, I can't think of anyone appreciating it more than you.

There are downsides to not having children I'm sure, but this is one of the upsides.

Nice ! It looks like the PO's had some very looong necks...

Nice Drew, and think about this way, you don't have to pay for college for the MGB, or ever bail it out of jail

Very Nice ! Great Find - Congrats, plus I always say there are 7 days in the week & we need at least one car for each day !

My wife and I have joked about this very thing, Hap. Cars don't get pregnant either...

Congrats! It looks like ~My '69~ .

I thought of your car when I first saw pictures of this one, Nial. Mine is "Glacier White" -- BL's version of white.

You and the Wife are going to LOVE the MGB.
They down right posh compared to the Bugeye.
Those two cars just seem to compliment each other
so well. Some days it is just so nice to cruise in the B.
:cooler:
Other days it's the Bugeye when we are in the mood for
some spirited flogging.
:driving:
The B gets the no-flogging rules. It is Her's after-all.
Except for the RHD it is very similar to our B, even the Minilites.
Great find. More pics please.
:winner1:

I've kept my midget for a similar reason. While not as posh as an MGB, it is still quite a bit more comfortable than the bugeye.

I think it's going to work out well, though I expect the MGB will be flogged as well.

A few more pictures, from the ad.

I'm sure it will all be worth it, but dealing across a national border (even the Canadian one) is a real PITA let me tell you.

One of my best buddies has '69 B, and that thing feels like a Cadillac too me. (I mean that in a good way.) It has almost too much room. I get agoraphobic when I drive it.

As for children, I always tell my friends who are considering taking the plunge that the mind bending, almost heart bursting joy isn't worth it.

After just dropping OH-MY-GOD-THAT'S-A-LOT-OF-MONEY on having one of my kid's tonsils and adenoids out I realize that the other advantage cars have over kids is that you can't really do the work yourself on your kids.
