I thought you racing folks might enjoy these pictures from a fellow Mercedes fan in Australia. Per Ron:

"In the early 1950's there was a Mercedes racing in Australia in touring car events which were once a big deal here (before V8 supercars drowned out all forms of Real car racing). While digging around for info I found these pictures taken in 1959 of an Elfin Streamliner (road registered!) with a Ponton in the background and a rare Hillman station wagon in front. The second picture of the Elfin shows an equally rare Ford Mk1 Zephyr Zodiac Convertible."

There is a good page on Wikipedia giving detailed info on Elfin history and production with a picture of a Mallala
(see attached photo) which looks like the car pictured. Appparently various engines were used in them and the thought of a 2.5 litre climax in a lightweight car such as that brings chills....
