DOOR WINDOW INSTALATION 65

Has anyone recently put a door window in an early model. Either I am brain dead or this is just plain crazy. For anyone else doing this job. the quarter light goes in after the window goes in, how do I know, well I have removed it 3 times so far. I can't get the guide wheel in the center of the glass rail to get in the channel and engage. Everything I read says to bring up the winder rail mechasism until the end is to the farthest point to the rear of the door. Great for the rear roller but the middle roller never seems to be aligned with the slot. This has been an all day process with no quality end results. Also you need to put the top inside door trim in before you do anything. I started from painted metal.

Mark, do you have the winder mechanism attached to the door? I put the guide wheels in first, then aligned and bolted the mechanism to the door (I put some tape on the top of the winder so as not to scratch the inside of the door - took a bit of "english" to move it along but still very easy.

Window was in tracks fore and aft and then tightened things up

John,

Are you refering to the center 4 bolts or the actual 4 bolts that hold in the winder? I do have both attached, which should I let loose?

Mark

when I put mine together, the winder mechanism was not attached to the door at all. First get the guides in the tracks, then attach to door. BTW - you will find that the plate around the winder only fits one way - so you may have to rotate to get it to line up - not hard

Thank you John,

I just read your reply at 11:32 this morning and now at 11:52 I have a window that winds up and down. I am never let down by this forum.
