Door striker plate

I'm trying to adjust my door latch. Is the striker plate held on by captive nuts? I don't have any way to access it from the rear. If I remove the screws will I hear the nuts drop into a place that sees no sunshine?

Not knowing which car you are referring to, I can only say that the TR4 has captive threaded plates. It's doubtful if you have loose nuts, because how would you hold them to tighten?

If you are talking about the striker plate on the 'B' pillar, then yes, you will lose all of the nuts if you take the screws out. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Seriously, there is a floating captive plate back there that is threaded for all four screws. Therefore, all four move together. You can take the striker plate off without running into any problems.
