Door Seal

I bought new door seal for my BJ7 from Moss. Part # 249-857. When I took the old stuff off when I started the restoration, I could have sworn that the stuff that was on there gripped unto the knife edge flange on the latch pillar, the alumimium sill trim & the front edge going up to the dash. The one piece that I saved is already stored up into the upper loft in a box somewhere and I am too lazy to go look for it. But this new piece won't grip to anything. It has a rubber part attached to the woven/cloth part but the only thing for the flange to fit into is a moulded "V" in the rubber with no griping ability. Is this thing suppose to be glued in place? I'm pretty sure the old stuff did not use glue. Thanks, Dave.

The old style with the clips inserted are sold as "Bristleflex" here: https://www.macgregorukcarparts.com/ The ones you have need to be glued on. I've used 3M Super Heavy Duty weatherstrip cement with varying degrees of success.

Listed in Moss is part # 249-795 - door seal clip. Also at scparts.co.uk - #sc1675. If you Google "Healey door seal clip" you will get how these work with the seal Moss sells. Inside the fuzzy part of your new seal is an aluminum strip of spring clips. Unfortunately they lack any "spring", so these extra clips hold that aluminum in place. Suggested number is 20 per side, but that seems like a lot, since there's an aluminum cover strip over the inner sill that should go over the fuzzy seal on the horizontal.

Get Bristle flex and be done with the problem.

I agree with Keoke - I had some of what you have and threw it away and ordered the Bristleflex for both my Healeys. It took about 10 minutes per door to install and it is easily pulled off and reinstalled.
