Door Seal Moulding

How do I get the rubber moulding that seals the door back to its original shape on my 73 GT? This inside edge moulding is doing the same thing. Do I need to buy new and hope it fits? The inside car noise is coming from these areas and the car would be much quieter if they fit up around the corners again.

f its that 90-degree corner, you'll be just as well off to buy a new one.

I have heard that the new ones seem to be too small and you have to use a portion of the old one to fill in. Any help there. How much to add to the heater stuff Big T.

On the ones I recently put on one of my GT's, I had extra left over...but, you've gotta start in that upper corner

yep

How did you do on the heater parts it is getting cold here. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Ah, need it to warm up here a bit here also so I can lay down across the seats of a car out in the MG Graveyard & pull them - not going to be fun as they're back behind the radio console area

The large one should be under the heater after you take it out. That is according to the catalog and manuals. I did not have to go inside the car at all to remove everything. Am I wrong?

I'll look down inside a couple of disassembled cars but I've never seen anything down inside the heater hole when I remved the heater...

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing. That molding looks like it goes next to the flapper valve that controls where the air goes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

But, as I've taken them apart, I've never seen anything down next to the heater...

Tony,
Include a gas cap in the figuring. I need an MG one to replace the PO's choice. It is cold in the morning and hot on the way home here.

Its got to be under the dash - its not out in the heater

I'll look under my dash tomorrow. I'm looking at the picture in VB and it looks like the seal goes under the distribution box and has the two tubes go through it. I am going to look throught the manuals I have and see if I can get a picture. So far thanks. If this doesn't work I am going to call VB and see if they know.

Edit: Tony I have found a diagram in my MGB repair manual and it does not show that seal. So I guess I only need the tubes. Are they installed after the heater is mounted? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif

I may disassemble one Saturday just to see where it is

There are gaskets at the flange where the box mounts to the firewall, a gasket at the blower hole, gaskets at the edges of the faceplate for the defroster tubes (tubes can ONLY be installed AFTER the box is in place), and around the cold air flap. I've usually put some RTV around the ends of the tubes when installing them as a bit more seal and an "anti-rattle" measure. The felts on the diverter "flapper" in the box are felt, and glued in place. Those are the only seals I'm aware of, but I'm talkin' '64 B here.

Doc - you're correct..I'm thinking LLAngus has part of his heater box missing

LL - can you post a photo?

And tony-as I was driving home I rolled up the drivers window and the lever (knob) broke off. Do you have a driver's side crank?
