hi, i dont know if this is the right place to ask, but i got a P reg corsa merit, i am doing it up so a lot of money will go into the car, trouble is there is no alarm, no central locking, and no immobiliser. does anyone know if the car already has motors in the door because i have been told i have to buy them, if i do have to buy them can someone find me an ebay number for it so i can have a look. i so dont want my car being stolen.
thanks

That would be a Vauxhall Corsa... What year is yours?

This forum is generally people who own older British cars, and most live in North America, where the Corsa wasn't sold...

Never fear, someone may still have the answer for you, or at least some ideas.

Welcome to th' skip, hope ya decide to stay.

The last Vauxhall I looked at was a Viva, so I'm USELESS with this one... but don't let that put ya off.

Just a thought: an aftermarket immobiliser and a kill switch mounted somewhere *nice* may be a fair substitute? Or a "silent alarm" (the "pager" kind) and a nice pair o' JACK BOOTS?!?

As I said... just a thought. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I prefer my Black 2x4's with large nails behind the tires.

p registered

lol i didnt know most of you was americans, i forgot the registration plate was different lol. i think i come to the wrong place but still, i would like to stay.

Stick around, there's a few of you guys in here from across the pond. Plus it's just a really cool site, freindly people, and lot's of good info.

Welcome!

The first letter on the plate tells the rear of registration. Unlike here, the plates stay with the car when it moves on to new owners and the registration plate/license plate become the main (easy) identifier of the car.

At least I think that's right. So "P" would denote the rear the car was registered. Brits often refer to that date instead of saying '89, '96 etc... like we do.

At least I think that is correct.

I tried searching to find the year of P tags, but insyead found several sites selling different UK vintage tags... The only P one I could find was P 2 ... They wanted over 150,000 pounds sterling for it - sheesh.

They're trollin' for that ONE Rolls owner... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif
