Post-War Other Door latch dovetail fit !

Question on the proper adjustment for the Door latch dovetail.
Should the door latch mechanism rest on the bottom shelf of the door latch dovetail?
Mine currently look as if they do and there are wear marks indicating that as the door opens and closes the latch rubs on the door dovetail shelf. Is this correct or should the dovetail be adjusted so the latch does not slide or rub on the dovetail shelf.
Page 188 of the TRF Glove box Companion has an illustration of the dovetail piece.

I adjusted my doors to not rub. However, in spite of attempting to weigh the car down to emulate having a passenger and driver, I have yet to fully assemble the car which will cause the frame to flex some more.

The question begging an answer is if you can adjust it so that it will not rub with and without a driver and or passenger. What would be more troublesome, rubbing without a driver and or passenger, or the possibility of jamming with one or both?

They are easy to adjust, let us know how it works out.
 
Well it currently is adjusted so that it does not rub. But the door rattles when going over bumps. I was wondering if I should move it back or if something else is the matter?
 
On my car, with the door latched, you can actually move it in and out slightly. The fuzzy seals should put enough pressure on the door to keep it from rattling in this direction. Or the hinges could be worn enough to allow the door at the rear to move up and down, or the door catch mechanism may be worn.

Or, just don't drive over bumps. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif (I just could not resist)
 
Another adjustment you can use for a better fit, is to bend the lip with a cresent wrench (in or out), that the fuzzy seal fits over.
