Door Hinge rebuild

Has anyone on this list personally replaced a door hinge pin?

I replaced mine last fall. I had to drill out the pin. It was very tricky but then I replaced the pin with a generic one from autozone.

I assumed the pin was hardened steel. No?

Nope. It's pretty soft. If you look at the pin in your hinge you will be able to see where they "dimpled" it to keep it in place. I assume they did this with a simple drift and a hammer.
