Door handle and window crank escutcheons

These come in two thicknesses. Where does the thick one go? where does the thin one go?

i have part #'s, and all the catalogs, but I don't see any indication which is which.

Up until 74 they were the same, then in 74 the door handle escutcheon changed. I know that's no help to you, Lewis, but I thought it were worth mentioning.
