Door Handle Adjustment

Hello LBC Folks.

I hope that springtime is heading your way.

I have a question re. adjusting the handle on a TR3A door. The handle is no longer horizontal, but returns to "above horizontal." I had assumed that it is a "spline-type" adjustment, i.e., pull the handle off the spline move it a couple of notches, and push it back onto the spline. But this is not the case, I am told.

The adjustment lies in the cord? If the handle is coming back too far after opening the door, I need to shorten the cord? Lengthen the cord? I installed new door pockets on both doors, so this might be causing my problem. The passenger door is OK, but it is just a matter of time...

I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Phil

Yes, sometimes it is an adjustment. But, other times it has been reported that certain broken parts in the mechanism have resulted in the door handles pointing skywards.

I have the same isssue with my TR3. Years ago I took it apart to fix it, but couldn't. If I remember correctly, the problem was caused by wear in the sheet metal where the handle shaft goes through on the inside of the door. I had no way to fix it at the time, so just left it.
