Door Dismantle Questions

BTW Happy Easter all! I spent a couple of hours taking off the driver's door tonight. It actually came pretty smoothly. However, I'm not exactly sure,

1. How to remove the key cylinder from the door and

2. Is there any way to remove the backing plates for the door latch on the body and the backing plate for the seat belts. These are the plates the bolts bolt into. They are all loose and I got the lower one off (that the "knob" on the door jamb slides into)I'm planning on having the body shot blasted and I suspect these plates will get damaged.

Thanks for your help
JP

Hi JP, you didn't mention what year yours was, but if it's anything like mine, the lock cylinder just has a spring clip holding it against the outer panel. If you got the inner panel off, then I'm guessing you already have the latch handle plate removed. Take the door latch assembly off, and you should be able to push the lock cylinder out. You may or may not need to squeeze the spring clips, mine just popped out by rocking the lock back and forth. Hope that helps!
