Door Check Strap

The stud on my BT7 right hand door check strap broke last week. I removed it and welded in a new bolt of the same deminsions as the original. When I installed it and adjusted the nut to hold the door open, I discovered the door was hard to close but easy to open. Then it occurred to me that the original stud might have been a left hand thread. I have discarded the original stud. The left hand door is normal right hand thread. Should the right hand door stud be left hand threaded??

Yes it is left hand threaded--Keoke
