This was the parting shot that my better half took at me late yesterday afternoon. I am perched on my favorite stool in the garage, looking every bit like The Thinker , ruminating my next move and considering my options for the engine removal, etc.

(I had just returned from a buddy's shop, picking up his glorious engine hoist. You know the type - you ask to borrow something big like a hoist {he owns 3} and he has it waiting at the door, eager to help load it into my truck. He is one of those guys that if you ask him the time, he tells you how to make a watch. He's into American Muscle, not my cup of tea but it sure is nice to hear a Rat Motor rumble out the back of a '69 Camaro.)

Ya know, we don't ask much. They should leave us alone. I guess I am behind in my honey-do's. Need to find a way to do both - herstuff, mystuff.

I just need a kick in the 'rumph to get going.

Jaybird...? You gonna let an opening like that get away from ya?

Why don't you get two tickets to Puerto Rico and have your bride spend a day or two on the beach with Wendy? I'm sure that you and Dale could have that red TR6 humming in no time and your wife would think you were a hero too!

My wife caught me the other night sitting in the TR4 doing the same thing. I was just thinking about next steps, restoration plans, etc.

I got yelled at too.

Its when she DOESN'T yell that I worry.... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Paul:

A totally spendid, productive idea.

Bill and work on the crypt car while Wendy and Bill's wife tour the island.

I know that I'm very, very lucky. My wife has yet to complain about anything done to the TR6. However, I am having a bit of difficulty in selling her on the tri-carb setup and Dayton wire wheels, but I'm hoping that by spring, this too, shall pass.

And just for the record, I've been caught staring many times. Often at a Moss or TRF catalog, but I never get much more than the infamous "Now what does it need?" as she passes through the room.

I've said it before... I told her that I bought the car for her....Therefore, anything that I do to the car, anything I spend is actually for her.

I have been questioned several time what I'm doing just sitting on my stool staring at my TR6 project. Last week it got even more dicey. I sent her down to the garage to get my tape measure and she found a bottle of KY in the same drawer in my tool box. She came in and proclaimed "now I know what you do late at night while staring at your 6..."

Well, I had just bought a new bottle and had to show her the seal was still in tact and that I use it to put windshields in. I even demonstrated as I had just gotten my frame back from the powder coater so I got out my phone wire and proceeded to pop it in with the help of the motion lotion (thank goodness). I think she has told that story 20 times since last week; that I know of.

I wouldn't go that far.

About a month ago someone that had visited my web site wanted to buy our TR6. I had no intention of selling and just mentioned it to my wife. I found out in short order that I had better not ever sell it! Ain't life great! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif Thats good!

My wife is a carnut herself, so I am usually pretty free to do as I please with the cars, she stares at them jsut as much as I do. The only thing I can think of where it got a little dicey was when I was in the garage late in the evening fiddling with the stereo in one of the B's.....I was so pleased with myself for getting it workinf right that I fell asleep right there in the car! In the morning she found me sound asleep in the car, in the garage.

I'm VERY lucky not only is my wife my best friend but also a good wrench (got to be careful how you spell that). When I'm stuck on a technical problem she unsticks me. Course I dont keep KY in my tool box

Why do husbands have to work all week and then spend the weekend doing things for our wives and kids? They spend much more time at home, but I don't know what they do there. Maybe make lists of things for me to do. Why do I feel bad when I have finished fixing and building everything for them and then managed to spend five minutes fiddling with the TR? Something's not right!

I'm also very fortunate. My better half has no clue about anything mechanical, but she will listen to me talk it through. She will watch me draw pictures etc, by doing that it helps me to get my head around the problem.

My Wife's first car was a 65 Spitfire. Several years ago,I bought another Spitfire and presented it to her for our 25th anniversary. Her response was "No thanks, I really don't want another Spitfire, I'd rather have an old Mini". So I sold the Spit and bought a '62 Austin Mini. I have until her next birthday in September to get it finished. So when I spend too much time in the garage, I merely have to say "but I'm working on YOUR car!!" Every once in a while I get to work on my MM Traveller, Stag or Herald. You just have to figure out what car they want (English car that is).

Just started dating a girl seriously after six glorious months as a bachelor. I have to admit that a couple of things have crossed my mind. First, would this eat into my LBC time (she's not a car person). Second, would this eat into my paintball time.

I know, I need help. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif
