Don't hate me...

when i got the car it had a powerglide with a highstall speed converter which was unsuitable for the street. i measured the 200 r4 and the 700 r4 and liked the fit of the 200 better. using a lokar shifter i was able to locate the shifter in the stock transmission cover opening. i do not use a toggle for the lockup. i also use a lokar throttle control pedal and it is very easy to locate and very adjustable for pedal comfortable. i am considering moving the throttle to the clutch pedal arm which is removed at present in to allow me a little more leg room.... with the overdrive i am able to cruise at 70 mph around 2700 rpm with 3.90 gears. most likely will have a 8.8 ford rear axle built this winter so that i can put in 2.78 gears as well as disc brakes.... money money....

Max, your car is lovely and I hope my interior looks as good... when I get one done ;)

As for the pedals on automatics... it is very tight! I'm 5'9" and I barely fit. My friend who has an original 100/6 is about 6'3" and he's stuck in my passenger seat. To get the CG right the builder really pushed the old SBC400 way back. Here's a shot before I removed the mouse house carpet. Also, the transmission tunnel housing the Turbo 400 is so wide that the seats barely fit.

You guys need to tear out those Chevys and automatic trannys and install a nice skinny Ford with a 5 spd. I'm a little tight with three pedals, but compared to you it's like the Ponderosa down there.
