...with your hand-brake on!

I'm thinking "What's that stench?"

A week later and the brakes still stunk. Took the drums off and the shoes were toast (literally - all burnt and crumbly - a horrible sight)

Not wanting to wait a week, I got some replacements from Advance Auto. I would NOT recommend brake shoes from Advance Auto! The lining are visibly thinner and they don't have the proper "relief", or whatever it is called, that you position at the top of the leading edge.

To add to the misery, the freakin' driver's side started leaking smelly diff fluid on my hands as I was wrestling these shoes on. With any luck these shoes will become soaked and I'll have to get some proper ones from VB or Moss.

Hey!!! It slowly dawned on me, reading the archives, that you lot have been cheating! You have all been taking the half-axle out before you R&R the shoes. That is too easy!

cheers

It could have been worse Adrian. You could have driven over to Raleigh on Saturday with the handbrake on!

Sorry about the problems. Don't forget to include BP Northwest in your quest for good shoes. They will likely have the same parts as VB and Moss for a bit less.
