After realizing the tires on my Santa Fe, with 255k miles, were wearing badly, I found that the tie rods and ball joints were in need of replacement. So, for the past few days I have been changing the outer and inner tie rods and the ball joints. The inner tie rods required a special removal tool that I was able to borrow from AutoZone. The lower ball joints required that the lower control arms be removed, then the ball joints had to be pressed out and new ball joints pressed in on the bench with another special "press" tool borrowed from AutoZone. I finally got everything back together tonight around 6PM. Next stop the alignment shop! I screwed on the outer tie rods to the same number of threads as the old ones so the alignment should be pretty close.
