of the weight of a stripped B/E tub?

Is it that much?
Seemed pretty easy to move around, but I guess that's about right.

That sounds about right. It is a handfull for 2 people to lift but easy for 4.

The hood is close to 100 lbs so without one is probably around 300 total.

100 lbs? I'd guess closer to 45-55 lbs.

FINE!!- I was just using the Armstrong (armweak??) method of measuring

It is still a WAG on my part, and mine is an early bonnet which is lighter.

+1 - two of us could carry it (and that is a '76)

Depends on how much of the tub is Bondo.

I didn't know that, Trevor. I knew the early tub was lighter but what is different about the bonnet?

Kurt.

The early bonnets did not have the air box and associated bracing that the later cars had.

Can't weigh too much. I dragged this one by myself at least 100 feet from my garage to my garden shed (where it currently resides).

I bought it in '69. So, sentimental attachment. Or maybe just mental. :jester:

Hard to let go isn't it?

Reminds me of my MGC.
I bought it in Anchorage in 1985.
I drove the heck out of it, through all 4 seasons up there then drove it down the AL-CAN when I moved to Seattle.
Drove it all over Seattle, then spent 6 months rebuilding the engine - professionally rebuilt head etc...
After I got it running the clutch went out and I decided I wasn't going to pull everything out again (NOTE TO SELF: always replace clutch when rebuilding engine).
Found an ex BL mechanic (Indian guy working at a BP station) who agreed to do the job, so I had a rebuilt 6 cylinder motor, a great running OD transmission and a new clutch.
Then I got married, had a kid, sold my motorcycle and bought a house way out in the outer burbs.
Drove my MGC out to the property and parked it in the back yard.
There it sat for 20 years, until I got into Spridgets.
I put it up for sale and got just $100 less for it than what I bought it for.
It was a total rat infested POC. Rusty as all heck too.
But it had all the original stuff, so the guy wanted it. Even came with a set of new rockers and a nice new grille I had bought and kept in it's box over 20 years before. New front & back glass and a lot of other parts all stored neatly.
I hope he restored it, but it was definitely better off with him than me.

Anyway, the Spridget bug had bitten me and now I have 5 of them.
That's my story and I'm sticking with it.
