But I also found the likes of later year cast members like Billy Crystal,Eddie Murphy, Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, Phil Hartman, Jon Lovitz, and even Chris Farley to be very funny and entertaining. I think it's the writing that has let SNL down. It just isn't funny.
I think there is a chicken-egg thing going on here. As long as people go to the shows (live audience), scream and cheer like crazy, the writers will continue to put this stuff out. The "groupies" are a big part of the problem, feeding the ego.Basil said:To be perfectly honest, I fear that the kind of crassness and crudeness and vulgarity that is coming out of much of the entertainment industry these days is like a cancer on our society and it is having a very deleterious effect on how we treat each other in society. Basil said:I have to agree. I really enjoyed the original SNL and the original cast. My favorites were John Belushi and Gilda Radner. I also liked some of the early replacement players, but then they started getting too crude. There is a lot of that going on these days - crudeness passing as "humor." Sorry, not my cup of tea. ..."smart" humor has disappeared. Base humor is now in play.
I'll say no more.
