I've got a mazda p/u,318,000 miles. After a day of running (quickly)around a bearing or something was making a noise. I put a 1 1/2 of oil in, noise stopped, worry began. Is it possible to run something dry w/o doing life ending damage. They don,t make'm like they used to. Thanks jim

eh, Keep a close eye on the oil level. with 318K miles on the clock, it's in it's twilight anyway, but no reason it won't keep soldgering on. If the noise dosent come back, no worries (for now).
Still I'd keep an eye open for any deals, just in case.

thanks Banjo, I think I'll change the oil today-look for signs of damage then look in the classified. I've been using this truck for my work, I'm a carpenter, for the past 13 years, hmm-13yrs/friday the 13th, so it's pretty important to me. Anyway, I appreciate your help, will keep you posted.
