I must say that if you don't have one then you are certainly missing out on something. When I first got my midget 10 years ago, it was one of the best things I love about the car. It stopped me from having to put the top up and down. Just unzip and get in and then zip up when you get there at work or whatever. I drove that car almost the whole summer like that. In the summer ,especially here in the southeast, we are bad to have a nice morning and then an afternoon shower and then it dries up and we have a nice afternoon/evening. That Tonneau did a great job of keeping the rain out(though I would always recommend putting the top up in a hard storm)and was just great all around. The only time I took it off was for a major rain storm (or usually just took another vehicle that day) or if I was hauling a passenger. Just so great to just fit in that little cocoon and be able to see around 360 degrees with no clutter or anything. Well worth the money.

i love mine! ..transforms the car..... got it for $20 cause the pass. side zipper is bad....zimmmmy

I have one but it has shrunk and now is too hard to use. I think that might be the case for a lot of people who don't have a new one.

Sometime I will maybe when it warms up I will get around to getting and fitting a new one, but right now it is too much of a pain so I use the hardtop.

I carry both the Tonneau and the Boot cover. My son loves driving with the Tonneau. He said the car "Feels" faster.

Tim, I think your son is right, the car probably is a bit faster! The aerodynamics of having the passengers side covered, reducing the air turbulance, is a BIG improvement!!

I love mine. I leave the passenger side "up" and there is more heat for me in the winter. Super convenient and keeps bits of whatever out of the cockpit when parked at work or in town.

When I got my first car I didn't understand its purpose, but over the years I come to love it. Makes it feel like a D type

Vinyl expands and contracts more than about any other material you could possibly think of. I learned this when putting vynil on my house and doing some research. I have a tonneau for my pickup truck bed and when I take it off in the winter I have to warm it up to make it fit again. I have seen this with car tops, etc too. My advice would be to get the biggest tub you can find and fill it with near boiling water and soak the tonneau and then pull it out and have someone help you put it on the car and it should stretch real easy and fit and then leave it on there for a few days. Either than or put it out on something that gets real hot in the sun and leave it on there till it gets real hot and then fit it.

I do!

I don't have one yet, but it's on my list of presents once the car is back on the road again.

OK, here is a question for the bugeye drivers. Short or long?

Down here in Johannesburg

I love my tonneau especially out and about alone. However, one major complaint - I fold down the hood nice and neatly, tuck it in behind the safety belts, put the tonneau on and hey presto no sound at all - the hood has now covered the speakers. Need 2 new speakers in the front.

Cheers,
Mark

Mark, most here will respond by reminding you of the sweet sound of you car and how that should be enough.

I myself have just installed a stereo with some truly overkill speakers in the back so I'll have to figure out a way of making this work as well.
Most likely I'll use the short padded cover (what's the thing called?) that covers the top when folded down and snaps around it. That should leave my speakers mostly visible. This all has to be tested of course.

For most of our NW weather when its warm I will probably just unzip my rear window and tuck that - then I will have the open air, a covering for the times its needed and unobstructed path for my speakers.

I also have a tonneau and used it quite often last season.
I love the thing, it gives the car a great look and its extremely functional. I don't think its going to be very friendly to my stereo tho.

I'll go long with mine -- don't want to install an extra set of snaps.

Try this. Pull out the top as you fold the frame down and then take the top and fold in the sides and fold them in, then fold the top over once thenone more time on top of the frame. It will stay there with a couple bungee cords or a top cover made to go over it when it is down or with the tonneau going over it and will leave rear speakers uncovered. I too have a custom designed sound sytem. Worked on speaker placement for a week. I got some cheap speakers but with the right placement and mount material and amplifier it really rocks.

I'm going for the long tonneau on my Bugeye as well. I don't want the extra snaps either.

Re: Do all of you spridget owner have a tonneau to

If You already have the snap holes go short otherwise go long.

Re: Do all of you spridget owner have a tonneau to

Oh... I have the snap holes (plenty of them), but they will be welded up when I restore the body.
