Dixon is moving!

For those of us who do the Dixon show each year, they are moving to a larger field. I guess they need room for more than 250 cars and swap meet. They are moving to Woodland May 18th. It was my favorite show set in an old historic farm town off interstate 50 west of Sacramento (for those not familar). The Healey always seem to be under the shade trees while every other marques baked in the sun.

Are they moving to the Yolo County Fairground? That is also a very nice spot, and there are areas that have trees.
There are also other attractions around like the Heidrick Ag History museum (which is probably the worlds largest tractor collection and would also be a good place to have the show, except there are really no trees there). Woodland is bigger than Dixon and the Fairgrounds are right in town (not to knock Dixon, it was a great place for this event). Woodland is also an historic town, and has many (and diverse) resturants, motels, etc. The Capay valley is about 15 miles from Woodland and a great place to drive. There are vinyards, a Casino, plenty of stuff to do after the show.

Yes, that is the place they list. I understand there is an excellent steak house there that everyone tells me to try. I'm looking forward to it.

I am the chairman of the UBSCC car show and we had to move to Woodland due to the poor upkeep of the Dixon fairgrounds. They kept removing fencing and allowing the grass to die so we receive complaints from a few people who attended. The Woodland site (Yolo county fairgounds) is only about 6-10 min farther for the Bay area people. It should be closer for all the rest of us. It has a huge field in good shape and trees all around the field. We should be able to park the cars with a little more room between them and still have plenty of room for the swap meet in the olive grove next to the main field.

It better be better because the rent is double the Dixon fairgrounds!

Please mark your calendars for May 18th. The flyers will be sent in Feb. We just got the artwork done for the show. See the logo attached.

The web site is https://ubscc.org/CarShow.htm. The registration is not open yet for the show. But we will probably get it up in Feb or March. Send me your email address and name and we can add you to the flyer list. I will also post the web site again once the registration is open. We set the classes for the show by the pre-registrations. We need at least 3 cars for each class. the 100 6 often don't have enough cars to make a class, but there is always a 100 4 and 3000 class.

I realize that this is a forum for Austin Healeys but I like the mix of cars that show up. There is usually at least 2-3 cars that come to the show that I have never seen before.

I've been going for years. It begins the driving season for me. My favorite is always the R-R with the original crystal wine set. There are always many So-Cal cars there. Lots of Healeys. VERY nice group of LBC owners. Very well run. I keep saying I'm going to join the Sacto group but never get around to it. I'm with the Golden Gate Austin Healey group which is 100 miles farther for me.
(Sorry for the rambling-I'm on pain meds which make be bonky)

Stay tuned boys and girls! The Sacramento Bee had an article about the Yolo Fairgrounds looking for a new location itself. Apparently the town has moved to the fairground via new housing developements. I guess they don't want the noise and congestion "in town". Progress. I'm guessing that it will be a long time before that will happen though.

This sounds good I've been to the Dixon event before and had a good time. My BN7 just may be driveable by then with any luck and a bit more work (so what else is new).

Regards all.

I would not worry about the article on the Yolo fairgound possibly moving. They have been talking about that since the late 1990s.
