Distributor tach drive seal replacement ????

Has anybody ever replaced this seal? It looks as though the housing is two pieces. Does the threaded end screw out, or do I need to press it out. I've been told to not bother with replacing it because they don't leak. Well this seal has lived in hot, dry AZ for over 50 years. I'm sure it's a bit dried up, and I have the new seal.

I might have this wrong for what you are showing, but I believe the final threaded bit that accepts the tach cable is actually threaded onto the other bits. I know this was true for a TR4A I found at the junkyard, I grabbed the distributor but almost lost the other piece because I couldn't get the cable off.

Hi Randy, I'm thinking it is threaded also because of the two flats on the piece. I will have to customize one of my wrenches and make it more like a thin spanner to try.
