Hi all. A question if I may. My car has a slight oil leak from the base of the distributor mounting pedestal where it bolts to the block. Is there anything to be wary of when removing it like parts that can fall off into the motor. I'm just wanting to check it's all flat and fit a new gasket. I noticed someone has been there before and the current gasket looks homemade, which is fine but this one's not done well. I'll also fit a DW clamp for my Mallory dizzy while I'm in there.

You'll be fine with distributor removal; there are only two and really nothing to fall into the hole. Just be sure to correctly index engine and distributor to TDC. A homemade gasket works fine but check distributor o-ring condition. GONZO.
