TR2/3/3A Distributor Choices

Hello All,

I am going to send out a distributor for rebuilding.

I have three to choose from, one DM2P4 that is an original TR3 unit and two 25D4 units that are for other engines. One of the 25D4 units was in my TR3 engine even though it is supposedly for an MGB engine.

As I have no idea if any of the advance curves are correct and there are three different vacuum units.

I was wondering if there is any logical reason to choose one distributor over the other to rebuild.

Thank you,

Roger

Perhaps it depends on what the rebuilder would do, but certainly the original DM2P4 would have begun life with the correct advance and vacuum unit. That would be my choice for rebuilding unless there is something seriously wrong with it that the rebuilder won't fix (e.g. some do not want to replace a worn bushing but will instead just use a Pertronix and call it 'rebuilt').

I sent mine to Advanced Distributor and they matched it to my engine rather than to the core unit. Tom
