Distributor cap...

Ok. I'm not a very savvy mechanic. I took the cap off last year and now that I'm going to replace it, I can't remember where the spark-plug wires go. I have the shop manual and know that the firing order is 1,3,4,2. Is there a way to tell based on that? And which one is the #1,#2,#3,#4 cylinder? Thanks in advance...Oh by the way, I have a '79 Midget...

1 is the front, 2 is next one back and so forth. Once found, mark the wires with the smallest tye wraps, one to the first plug wire, 2 tyre wraps to the next and so forth. The kiss (keep it simple stupid) principle that I try to live by.
