Had a minor disaster last night while cleaning up for the night. The engine decided to take up concrete diving from the top of the engine stand. Thankfully no one got hurt as the engine was fully rebuilt and very heavy. The heater valve was destroyed and the distributor was damaged.

I may need to get a new distributor as one of the clips that holds the cap didn't survive along with the cap and rotor and the part is not available. So for the bcf gurus if I cant find a junked 45d4 to get the clip I need what would you recommend for a new dizzy?
 
If no one here has an extra or used 45D4, don't forget eBay. The 45 was used in a lot of A- and B-series engines so don't limit yourself to just those from MGBs. You can swap the internals to the "new/used" housing. You might want to re-engrave the 5 digit model number on the housing if you do this though (to help any future owner).

If you're looking to upgrade, there are several options. There is the Hitachi (Nissan) dizzy conversion. There is Mallory. The newest option (if you have money left after that engine rebuild) would be the 123-Distributor. Contact Marcel Chichak at: https://tdcperformance.ca/ for information. Obviously the least expensive option is to buy a used 45D4 and repair what you've got.
 
In my Victoria British catalog #MG.57, on page 158 under the 25D distributor they list a 45D as a replacement for the 62 through 71 cars but to get the parts for this distributor from the 74 - 76 list. The part number for this is 8-2070. Might be worth looking to this possibility if nothing else comes around if you want to stay close to stock.It is still cheaper at $199 than the Mallory on page 25. You can always use the mechanical advance springs from yours to maintain the timing advance curve for your engine.

there's also a guy in hemming's motor news who has lots of mgb parts, located in lagrange, ky. he's very reasonable.
