TR2/3/3A Dissassemble TR 3A emergency brake handle.

Trying to get push rod out of handle to get handle ready for chrome. Do I remove the pawl from the rod and pull the rod out the top of the handle? The handle was removed from the car by the PO. Thanks for your help.
 
My recollection is that I took everything out the bottom of the handle.

I just did mine last month, so you'd think I'd remember. I dont, though!?! Seems like you jiggle the lock pawl off at the bottom, then shove the rod up as high as you can to remove the pushbutton. Once that is done the rod comes out the bottom, it has a curve, so I know it will not pull out the top.

I broke that very thick wire taking mine apart. That is going to be fun to duplicate! I did take some pictures as I was taking it apart. I just have to find them. I had the handle re-chromed, and it came out looking nice. Jerry
