Disney bachelor weekend

Just had to share the fact that I had a great bachelor weekend with my two sons (aged 11 and 8). I'm getting remarried in September, and our "bachelor" celebration was three days in Disney World. We had a great time, and I must say, the Disney folks provided a great experience from start to finish.

My wife and I are foster parents. A few years ago, we took in two special needs children and decided to take them to Disney World. When we got to the park, we explained the situation to the people at Guest Relations and were given two red passes, one for each child. Those passes got the kids to the front of EVERY thing, no waiting in lines, up front seating, etc. It was literally like having keys to the kingdom. We figured we MIGHT make it to 2pm or so......we were there till the park closed! Disney treated them like royalty. It really WAS a Magical experience.

Quite the OPPOSITE happened at another theme park we went to the next day, so there was no sea-ing that world!
 
Stupid me, I saw the title and thought that was somethig Disney way doing.....and got to windering about what rides they may have... :wall:

Excellent! (and congrats on the new marriage)

Linda and I went on a "practise run" to Disney last year so we'll know what to do when we eventually bring our grandaughter (or any future grandkids).
We had an excellent time.
 
Thanks gang! I'm very excited about gettin' hitched up to my lovely fiancee. We've dated since 2007, have lived together since 2008 and have owned our own firm together since January 2009. She's the boss at home and at work! Just kidding -- sort of! :wink:

We stayed at the garden wing at the Contemporary Resort -- not in the main tower, but a smaller a-frame style building right next door. It was significantly less expensive than the rooms in the main tower, right next to the pool and about a 100 foot walk to the doors of the main tower. I highly recommend it. It was great to be on the monorail -- on our longest and hottest day in the Magic Kingdom, it was good to be able to easily come back to the hotel and spend an hour or so in the pool and then back into the park.

Peter, that is a *wonderful* story. Not only does it warm my heart to see Disney make that effort for folks with special needs, but as a business owner I find it quite pleasing to see another business put so much effort into customer satisfaction. It comes at a price, of course, but I'm willing to pay for a quality experience!

I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary, but where's the "smaller a-frame" building? The low complex of buildings on the far-left side of this picture?

The new Bay Lake Tower looks nice, but I bet it's pricey as can be.
 
I'm willing to pay for a qulity expereince too.

That's where I usually stay at !!!

We upgraded from the Cavalier by the dumpster for more room and a better view. :laugh:

Sounds like you're a lawyer. Might have to hook you up with my J.A.G buddy there. He's got a bunch of toys too, but all American iron. He's about to tie the knot as well.

Right on! That's it. We got a room right on the end near the main building. Now that I see it from the sky, it's not an actual a-frame, but from ground level, it captures the overall style of the Contemporary. Really super convenient, nice rooms, cool decor, near the pool, and a fraction of the cost of the rooms in the main tower.

I was joking with my sons that I remember staying in the Contemporary with my parents in 1976. It looked so modern then! I love that it's still called the Contemporary. Contemporary...by 1970s standards! Whoa, an A-frame! :smile:

Cool - I didn't know those were rooms. It was probably a little more peaceful out there anyway. I've stayed at Port Orleans and Coronado Springs but nothing closer.
