dishonest listing on ebay

hi all,

haven't posted here in ages but i still like to check in now and again both here and in the healey section of ebaymotors. seems that the guy i sold my car to sold it to someone else and they're misrepresenting the restoration. i never claimed when i sold it that it was a "frame off" job nor did i say when the restoration was performed (the listing claims 1998).

Please refer to the message from Basil near the top of the forum listing titled, "About EBay".

It states, in part, "I don’t mind people posting EBay links here and discussing cars, as long as what is said is not derogatory or slanderous."

You would be better advised to contact the seller with your information about this car, rather than posting it here where it is extremely unlikely that a potential buyer would see it.

I am locking this thread (meaning that no more posts may be made in it). The owner, Basil, may well decide to delete it entirely.

Despite what some people seem to think, the British Car Forum is not the place to air grievances, settle disputes, or make accusations. If you are aghast and appalled at what a seller says on eBay, contact the seller and/or eBay. Thank you.

In one case, a man very likely lost a $9,000+ sale due to what was posted here on BCF. He had been accused of doing something with his auction (which was not against EBay policy anyway) but it turns out he did not do what he was accused of doing. Nevertheless, the winner of his auction backed out after postings on this forum became known on the EBay site. The bottom line is, I have no way to adjudicate which allegations may have merit, and which may not, and would rather not be put in that position anyway.
