Disc rims all bent and out of round

So, when I went to have my new tires mounted I was informed that my rims were in bad shape. The tires are on them but they had to add a lot of weights to them to even get them close to balanced and they still look terrible rotating on the machine - jumping around, wobbling back and forth, etc.

Question for the BCF readers is - are the VTO rims good? I saw the posting for free shipping and checked it out. I see the "Black 15x6 VTO Classic 8 Wheel for TR2-6" product - and find myself tempted.

But my rims are 5.5 wide, not 6. Will the 15x6 be OK? Does anybody out there run these on their TR3A? What size tires do you mount on them.

Thanks
Jim

The VTO wheels are reported to be excellent wheels.
The stock TR3 tire size: 165-15, is not recommended to be installed on a 6" rim. For that reason, alone, I opted for 15 x 5.5" wheels. If the tires you were having installed are wider than 165, you can use the 6" rims on your TR3.

Since your current (bent) rims are 5.5" they are apparently not stock rims. You might want to mention what tire size you would possibly be moving to the 6" rims.

Certainly a lot of threads recently on tires, esp TR3 fitment. Also a lot of different preferences and tastes on the subject.

I will soon be retiring my set of Minator 15"X5.5" Minilite replicas (made by the same factory as Minilite) when my wire wheels arrive so if anyone wants them, I'm asking $300 for the set of 4 that are in perfect condition with no curb rash whatsoever.

I bought a set of the 165R15 Vred sprint classics. That's what's on these disc rims now. They are pretty - all powder coated silver and I have a really nice set of hub caps for them. Maybe I'll just put them on for show.

You know, it just occurred to me that I probably cannot mount a wheel like the VTO on my car anyway. My studs are the short ones - barley 5/8" protruding. This car originally had wires so I guess the cars with original disc rims had longer studs. Is that right?

Thanks a lot for all your thoughts and comments!

I am formally withdrawing this offer as someone I had emailed the offer to prior to posting this has accepted my offer to sell (only yesterday) so I am honor-bound to sell the wheels to him. Sorry to the two of you who'd PMd me your interest but I'm selling these perfect wheels to a TR3 expert who has 45 years experience restoring and appraising TR2s & 3s. Thanks for everyone's understanding and sorry for any disappointment I've caused anyone.

Yeah, sorry about that. The TR expert who is buying my wheels took almost a week to reply so I'd pretty much given up on him by the time I made the post. But like washing the car and then it rains, he sent me his acceptance email shortly after I'd made the post and had already made an agreement to sell to one of our members. No good deed goes unpunished.
