Thought some of you out there might enjoy looking at a dirty picture. Or better said, a picture of a dirty A-type overdrive. Now that's dirty.....

That's just horrible, Bill.
I think you should ship it and the engine to me. I promise to take better care of it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Finished this tranny today....

Almost hate to put the side cover back on.

I was just going to say that! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/lol.gif

My original post was going to be, "Dave, it'll leak if you don't. But, it'll leak anyway, so what's the use."
I guess I shouldn't have changed it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I still don't get the whole leaking LBC thing...

Rebuilt the Sprite rear end soup to nuts & it still drips. Including the axle ends. (nice design on the weep hole BTW)

Rebuilt the tranny that is in it now & same thing.

Ditto for the engine. (The only thing that doesn't leak is the rear main "scroll seal"

Yes I know about synthetics & yes I polished all the shafts & mating surfaces & no I will not use RTV.

I am defeated...........And I accept this. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

LBC's leak because all British castings are porous. Has something to do with the weather. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

Also provides continuious active rustproofing for the underside of the car. Another brilliant British innovation!

I've come to the conclusion that LBC's leaking must have been a deal between the car makers and the oil companies. What better way to keep selling oil, lubes and grease????

Why not put a plexiglass side cover on so you can admire your work!'

p.s you know when your british car is out of oil when it stops leaking. Good thing the EPA isn't smart enough to check reggies on Brit car owners, lots of fines could be levied(sp?) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Considered that /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Tried that REM process for the first time & the gears came back looking like they had been chromed.

Cool looking but, does it really work?
Your thoughts........
