Just a note to hide away for future problems.
My BJ7 suddenly developed an indicator problem, one light refused to work. The bulb was fine and the wiring to it had recently been sorted to good effect. discussions with my Healey man suggested dirty points in the brake light relay device. I waded in with both feet, out came the fresh air duct and the relay box was opened up, all points were cleaned with emery cloth and the system switched on for a check:- no difference. then I followed the book, and shorted out terminals 1,2 & 3 with a home made cable bridge :- no effect. This was good, it seemed to indicate that the relay was not the fault. Took out the bridge and tried again. Bigger problems, nothing at all on one side. Finally discovered by wiggling the forks in the loosened screw connections that the fault was with the screw clamps and the wire (cable) forks to the relay, I guess that some how the metal to metal contact had finally broken down due to oxidisation over the years. I retired to bed a happy man and will clean the connections properly tonight. As I mullered (damaged ) the fresh air duct taking it out this will need replacing, but still cheaper than taking the car to the repair shop for the electrical repair.
