TR6 dimmer

what's the easiest/best way to bypass the non-functioning dimmer so the dash lights are always on when the headlight switch is on?
 
I just did the very same job yesterday. See here:
 
If your willing to take the rheostat out, it can be cleaned and function like new.
Typically the grease used in the windings become hard, and does not allow the wiper to make contact.
Once the rheostat is out you will need to pry the tongs open that hold it together. Clean old grease off with alcohol or other solvent. Re-grease and reassemble. Should work like new.
