I did sort of the same thing when I restored my car.
I did not take measurements. With all 4 wheels on the ground and the doors shut and adjusted, I cut and welded in some 1.5" angle iron on the top and bottom of the door posts and 2 angle braces from the rear bulkhead to the top door braces.
Then remove the doors and sills. My floors were already gone .

Hi Mike,
A bit of a problem with everything now apart. Randy Forbes used this type of bracing for the door openings.

Maybe he will jump in & give a good suggestion. Note that it can be left in place with the doors on. Or you could maybe measure the doors & add 3/8" total for the two gaps, 3/16" for each, & hope.

Thanks both, The picture above is not my car it is someone elses.
Mine had been bodged by the PO and the doors would not shut, so i had no dimensions to start with, which is why i thought if i had those dimensions i would get it back to where it should be.
My car is in a bit of a sorry state but will be fine once finished.
The PO had used sheet steel for sills, front out riggers and the floor, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif all of which is now coming out.

I'll repost the pictures just to save having to go to the previous post.
Unfortunately, I never did come across any pictures that show the braces in situ; be a lot easier to understand.
Other than putting the doors back on and putting the thing on the ground (to see where it settles), I can only offer one other suggestion; most Healey manuals have the chassis datum points listed in the back pages.
