Differential Growl

I have a distinct growl from behind the seats. I'm thinking it's the differential. It starts at 2000 RPM and quits at about 2100-2200 RPM.

I have recently put in a new used transmission, u-joints, and rear brakes. I have changed the oil in the differential as well.

Any thoughts?

Diff would howl at all speeds, me thinks.

:iagree: That's been my experience too. Sounds more like a vibration of some sort.
 
Could a bad pinion bearing cause this?
 
Did you mark the drive shaft in relation to the flanges before removal?

I did but lost the marks during the two years it kicked around my work bench area.

You think it's not balanced? Do I just rotate and test to see if it stops?

It seems like a rather narrow band of vibration.
