Different Shifters?

I was in my parts car today and noticed that the shifter is different than the one in the car I am "restoring". Does this indicate some sort of difference in the transmission, or just a different shifter?

1st pic is a late model (post '72) anti vibration shifter. Requires different hold down plate. Can be used on any gearbox.

Ah, Ok. So no reason to think the transmission is different, then?

Is there a rubber busing/damper in that chunk?
